Peer Reviewer Training

This training will explore the Quality Matters project and processes and will prepare you to be part of an initiative that positively impacts the design of online courses and, ultimately, student learning and success.

QM is designed to improve the quality of online courses by establishing a peer-reviewed quality assurance review process. This workshop will train you to become a Quality Matters Peer Course Reviewer. You will become familiar with the Quality Matters toolset and participate in a peer course review of an online course using the review tools. Ideally, participants in this hands-on workshop should be experienced online instructors, instructional designers, and/or faculty trainers. After successfully completing this training, you can be eligible to serve on a peer course review (Note: Quality Matters cannot guarantee a seat on a QM managed course review. The most expedient way to serve on a review is to have your institution submit a course for review and ask to serve as a member of the review team). In addition, you will gain ideas to improve your own courses.

Upon completion of this QM training, you will be able to:

• Describe the critical materials, processes and administrative elements of the Quality Matters online course quality assurance program.
• Apply the Peer Course Review Rubric to review online courses.
• Write useful recommendations for course improvement.
• Explain the QM scoring system.
• Describe the Peer Course Review process and your role in it.

The Peer Reviewer Training Online workshop is 3 weeks in length. Fees are $175 for QM Subscribers and $300 for Non-Subscribers.
