Research Advisory Committee

 

The application of research has been a key component of Quality Matters since its inception. To help Kay Shattuck, Director of Research, and the Academic Advisory Committee, further Quality Matter's research efforts we are delighted to announce the formation of a Research Advisory Committee, and even more pleased to introduce the three internationally known experts who agreed to serve as founding members.

Zane Berge is Professor of Education/Instructional Systems Development with the University of Maryland/Baltimore County. Dr. Berge is a researcher and prolific author in distance education issues including, but not limited to, analysis of the distance education literature, role of the online instructor, sustaining distance training, online learning and training from the perspective of higher education, of business, and of K-12.

D. Randy Garrison is Professor of Education and Director of Teaching and Learning Centre at the University of Calgary. Dr. Garrison's influential work in the concept of community of inquiry in distance education emphasizes the educational experience as it includes cognitive, social, and teaching presence. His contributions also include research in blended learning.

M.D. Roblyer is Professor of Education/Learning and Leadership at University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. Dr. Roblyer's contributions include assessing interactivity in online courses and putting research models into K-12 online practice.
