The 2026 CHLOE Conversations project takes a deeper look at the questions and trends emerging across recent CHLOE research. In spring 2026, the research team behind CHLOE (QM, EDUCAUSE, and Eduventures) convened six focus groups with 30 online learning leaders and practitioners to explore quality, online program strategy, artificial intelligence, and how these issues are playing out across different institutional sectors.
The resulting four-report series adds practitioner perspectives to the national trends CHLOE has documented over time. Together, the reports show how online learning has become increasingly connected to enrollment, access, student success, workforce needs, and institutional strategy — while also revealing ongoing challenges around capacity, competition, quality, evidence, and AI. The series offers institutions an opportunity to compare their experiences with peers and consider the questions they should be asking as they plan for what comes next.
