The QM IDA is led by a team of dedicated instructional design professionals. QM IDA members choose the leadership in elections held every three years. The current leadership team was elected in 2023.

Steve Kaufman

Steve Kaufman

Steve has been an instructional designer for 17 years, and is a Senior Instructional Designer and Strategic Initiatives Coordinator at the University of Akron. Currently, he serves as one of the Quality Matters Ohio Consortium’s State Leads and is chair of their executive committee. Steve is also a certified APPQMR Facilitator, Course Review Manager, and Master Reviewer. Through his experience, he has been able to help grow online programs by providing insight and guidance into the course development process, and frequently coaches institutions on their QM implementation.

Dr. Rae Mancilla

Dr. Rae Mancilla

Dr. Rae Mancilla is the Executive Director of the Office of Online Learning for the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, where she oversees the development of all new online and hybrid programs. She is an active instructional designer, educator, and scholar, with over 15 years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, project management, and assessment, specializing in digital accessibility and the development of instructional designers.

Heather Braatz is an instructional designer at the New England College of Optometry (NECO). She has an MSEd from UW-Milwaukee, and a BFA from Columbia College Chicago, and is a former funeral service educator. She loves nerding out about AI, UDL, interactive learner experiences, and collaborative course design.

Megan VanBuskirk

Megan VanBuskirk is Dean of Online Programs and Learning Support at Germanna Community College and an EdD candidate in Entrepreneurial Leadership, focused on applying social justice and systems thinking to address educational and systemic inequities. With nearly two decades of experience, she blends business sustainability with social impact to empower learners in their careers and communities. Megan champions quality as a Peer Reviewer, Facilitator, Research Colleague, and frequent presenter, reflecting her strong commitment to the QM community.

Felisha Clark

Felisha Clark oversees online programs to ensure that courses meet quality assurance metrics. She assists faculty with designing quality courses, promotes continuous improvement, and conducts quality assurance reviews regularly.

Kristyn Rose

Kristyn Rose

Kristyn Rose is a Senior Instructional Designer and Quality Coordinator at Old Dominion University’s Office of Digital Learning. Since becoming an Instructional Designer in 2003, she has published, guided faculty in course design in the US and the UK, frequently presented at conferences, and served in the leadership of the Association for Distance Education and Independent Learning (ADEIL). She enjoys serving as a QMC, Peer Reviewer, and Facilitator for QM, exploring how emerging technologies can be applied to teaching and learning, and advocating for accessibility.
