Build AI Skills You Can Use This Summer!
If educators hope to keep up with our learners, it’s time to understand AI, use it responsibly, and decide where it actually strengthens teaching and learning. But many AI professional development options fail to address the bigger questions: How do we protect learner privacy? What supports academic integrity? How do we use AI to build engagement without losing human connection?
The QM AI Teaching & Design Summer Camp 2026 provides a research-backed, ethics-first approach to AI integration. Based on community feedback on what you told us you need from AI professional development, it’s designed to go beyond tool tutorials to build sustainable practices aligned with QM Standards.
This two-workshop (core) series helps you address your concerns about AI and gain the skills you need to start building practices you can apply in your own courses, programs, or design workflows.
Key Dates
Registration opens: June 1
Core 1 registration closes: July 10
Core 1 start date: July 6
Core 1 completion date: July 31
Core 2 start date: July 31
Core 2 completion date: August 28
Each workshop earns its own QM Digital Credential via Credly.
Participants will explore these topics:
Core 1: Foundational Frameworks (8-10 hours)
- AI literacy without the technical jargon
- Ethical frameworks for academic integrity, data privacy, and bias awareness
- How proven integration models (SAMR, TPACK, PICRAT) apply to AI
- Multi-tool exploration: same educational challenge, different AI tools, synthesized insights
Core 2: Engagement Strategies (8-10 hours)
- AI-enhanced discussion design that maintains rigor and learner presence
- Building instructor, social, and cognitive presence using AI support
- Creating interactive learning experiences: branching scenarios, case studies, simulations
- Quality assurance strategies to avoid "workslop" (workshops without pedagogical value)
You'll create:
- Personal AI use policy and course/program AI statement
- AI-enhanced discussion plan for your actual course/unit
- AI-supported engagement strategy with presence-building focus
- Comparative analysis of AI tools in educational contexts
Both workshops are 100% online and self-paced within cohort dates, with structured peer interaction.
