What are the eligibility requirements for QM-Certified Reviewers and Master Reviewers?

QM-Certified Reviewers are at the heart of QM’s mission. Through their work, reviewers help institutions and individuals continuously improve online or blended courses to support student success. Because of the important nature of this work, eligibility to become a QM-Certified Reviewer is a rigorous process with several requirements. See the list of reviewer roles below.

QM Course Reviewer Eligibility Requirements

  • QM-Certified Higher Education Peer Reviewer

    Eligibility Requirements

    QM Membership:

    Higher Ed with Institutional or Individual Affiliation

    Professional Development:

    1. Applying the QM Rubric
    2. Peer Reviewer Course
    3. Professional Development sessions completed must have been associated with the past two editions of the Higher Education Rubric

    Prerequisite Roles:

    None

    Experience:

    Experience with teaching or designing online or blended courses within the last 18 months as follows:

    1. Online teaching experience is defined as teaching an online asynchronous or hybrid for-credit course as the instructor of record, either in a full-time faculty or adjunct position. The course includes assessments and requires regular and substantive interaction and feedback with the learners (e.g., MOOCs and self-paced courses would not apply.) (Instructors who teach professional development provided to faculty/staff including facilitation of the online Applying the QM Rubric or Improving Your Online Course workshops, class facilitation or grading in a Teaching Assistant role, web-enhanced courses, face-to-face courses, are not eligible.)
      OR
    2. Online design experience is defined as experience designing or revising an online asynchronous or hybrid full course as the instructional design lead and where your main role at the institution is that of instructional design. (Someone whose main job is to provide technical support or assist the instructor with the addition of tools to the course would not qualify.)
