From Access Gaps to System Impact: Implementing the QM Teaching Online Certificate Across Colleges

Presented by Veronica Koehn, Northeastern Junior College and Amanda Hardman, Colorado Community College System

The QM Teaching Online Certificate (TOC) is available as a supplemental license for subscribers – is it worth it? For the Colorado Community College System, the answer has been a resounding YES. This success story focuses on a multi-college system, each of which maintains its own catalog of home-campus online courses but also participates in the Colorado Online consortium to offer pooled online courses available to any learner across the system. We will describe how the TOC has enabled us to narrow an equity gap related to access to professional development for our smaller, typically rural, colleges. We will share considerations for implementing the TOC, data from our first year of running the workshops, and next steps to sustain the TOC for our system. If you’re curious about the TOC supplemental license, this will be an insightful session for you!

    Webinar begins at 12:00 p.m. ET, 11:00 a.m. CT, 10:00 a.m. MT, 9:00 a.m. PT

Meet Faculty Where They Are: Practical Online Course Design That Sticks

Presented by Paula McDougald, Virtual Arkansas; Eric Silva, The University of Texas at San Antonio; and Elyse Ramirez, The University of Texas at San Antonio

Supporting faculty when implementing new tools and workflows is one of the biggest challenges in course design. This joint webinar is for administrators, instructional designers, faculty members, and teams who want a more practical, sustainable approach to building accessible courses that meet QM Standards. We'll show how CourseArc's AI Toolset, including Magic Course Builder and Magic Image Descriptions, removes the friction that drives resistance. By meeting faculty where they are and working with the materials they already have, accessible and WCAG-compliant course design becomes something teams actually adopt, not just approve.

    Webinar begins at 1:00 p.m. ET, 12:00 p.m. CT, 11:00 a.m. MT, 10:00 a.m. PT

Using AI Thoughtfully in Course Design and Teaching

Presented by Bethany Simunich, Vice President Innovation and Research, QM

AI is changing the landscape of course design and teaching, but many faculty and instructional designers are still deciding what role, if any, it should play in their work. This session offers a practical, grounded starting point for those who are curious, cautious, or unsure. Through examples drawn from course design, teaching, and instructional support practice, participants will consider where AI may be genuinely useful, what kinds of support roles it can productively play, where human judgment and expertise need to remain fully in charge, and how to make thoughtful decisions about use in their own contexts. Participants will leave with concrete ideas, practical prompts, and a clearer sense of what intentional AI use can look like in everyday academic work.

    Webinar begins at 1:00 p.m. ET, 12:00 p.m. CT, 11:00 a.m. MT, 10:00 a.m. PT
