Taking the Tools to the Builders: Introducing QM via Faculty Learning Communities

Description

Here at our institution we have been using QM for designing online courses and/or updating them.  In particular, I have been involved as a Faculty in Residence for the 2014-2105 and 2015-2016 academic year, leading two Faculty Learning Communities.  This year I led a team of faculty in developing new “transformed” online courses for our Quarter-to-Semester conversion in 2018.  We met for 11 weeks and each week we developed course structure and content based primarily on the QM Rubric, along with the Quality Online Learning and Teaching Rubric.  The History Department is also developing a Quality Assurance program for all of our online courses and this will be based on the QM Rubric.  I will be discussing how these processes have been affected by QM at both the institutional and the departmental level and discuss some of the highlights/problems.
