Institutional quality assurance processes and timelines can take a variety of forms. QM can provide validation and recognition for robust internal course review processes used by member institutions that include the current edition of the Higher Ed QM Rubric. A Validation Review evaluates an institution's quality review process, whether they use QM's Internal Review Tool in MyQM's CRMS or their own internal process. QM will evaluate your process for ensuring your courses are meeting, at a minimum, all QM Essentials Standards.
Upon meeting criteria in a Validation Review, institutions receive the QM Endorsement for Course Design Quality Assurance and courses reviewed with the validated process that used the current Higher Ed QM Rubric will be recognized for Foundational Design. This recognition can be displayed and publicized by the institution or unit responsible for the replicable review process — a sign to learners and stakeholders that it is committed to quality digital learning.
The Review Process
After submitting the form (at right), the QM QA Team will determine if your institution is a good candidate for a Validation Review. If it is, they’ll start the process by gathering information to get the review process started. This includes:
- Quality Assurance Process Documentation
- Professional Development Verification
- Course Review Reports
- Data Analysis
A reviewer will be assigned and a report of the findings is provided about four weeks after the review begins.
