Belt it Out! Using Karaoke and Other Tools to Promote Student Engagement

Description

This session will provide strategies to help the instructor identify creative ways to encourage student engagement.  The session will also show instructors how these activities can be used to vary assessment.  It is believed that the suggested strategies will make the class more interactive and useful for the student.

Howard Gardner of Harvard identified eight learning  intelligences: linguistic, musical, mathematical, spatial, bodily kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal and naturalist.  It has been proven that differentiating instruction to meet the need of the individual student fosters academic success. Further, varying instruction and means of assessment helps eliminate boredom and stagnate approaches to teaching.
