QM and Universal Outcomes Assessment

Description

As alternative learning modes proliferate, including competency-based learning, MOOCs, game-based learning, etc., higher education lacks agreement on how to evaluate learning acquired by different methods. This session will focus on the desirability and practicality of universal outcomes assessment as an alternative to credit equivalency, badges, and certificates.  Would a common set of assessments for traditional study (F2F or online) and all the alternative forms be a preferable approach?  This session will engage the audience in discussing the pro's and con's of this approach, how it might be regarded by all the stakeholders in higher education, and its potential impact on the current dominance of the credit hour.
