How does the QM Rubric differ from the iNACOL National Standards for Quality Online Courses?

While the Quality Matters K-12 Secondary and K-12 Publisher Rubrics have, since their inception, been aligned with the iNACOL National Standards for Quality Online Courses, there are some distinct differences. The QM K-12 Rubrics contain some standards which are not directly addressed in the iNACOL standards. Users of the QM Rubric will find these additional standards helpful (and in some cases critical) in designing, improving, and evaluating online and blended courses. They will also benefit from the rich annotation throughout the QM Rubric, which discusses difficult concepts, provides examples of good practice, and guides course reviewers and developers in the application of the rubric standards. Used together, Quality Matters believes that these complementary standards for K-12 online learning will benefit students and lead to more effective learning in this rapidly growing segment of education. Additionally, we offer a Derived iNACOL Standards Report available for members who have completed a QM Course Review, based on the correlation below:
