Accessibility is a hot topic in higher education and for good reason—education should embrace and welcome learners of all abilities. We, as college administrators, faculty and staff, are responsible for ensuring an inclusive learning environment for all of our students. What’s the difference between accommodation and accessibility? How do you ensure your courses are accessible for all students? We’ll share our road-trip experience from three perspectives: disability services coordinator, faculty and instructional designer.

The popularity of online education continues to increase, with many institutions offering courses to students worldwide. With online student numbers rising year on year, learner profiles are more diverse than were previously possible, but this has brought with it unique challenges relating to accessing, interacting with, and generating course content. Course content creators, and Instructional Designers in particular, are uniquely positioned to work with Subject Matter Experts (SME) such as faculty to design accessible content for a variety of learner profiles.

Bring your laptop, a presentation file, a previously recorded video, or just your curiosity.  We will provide script templates that let you create content during the session or write a solid plan for your next project.
